Eliza Smyth, APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and Mountain-bike skills coach

Eliza has a passion for encouraging individuals of any fitness level to stay fit and healthy for life.

Eliza has been a practicing Physiotherapist since 2008. She completed her Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy with LaTrobe University in 2015.

Since moving to Canberra in 2011, Eliza has worked with the ACTAS cycling squad, the Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC) junior and women’s development squads and with the Australian Paralympic program since 2011. A Career highlight has been to work extensively with the Australian Para-cycling team in the lead-up to and during both the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016 and the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024 as their performance support manager.

Eliza has spent a lifetime coaching various sports. Prior to completing her Physiotherapy degree, she completed an undergraduate degree in Coaching Science (University of Canberra), was an NCAS (National Coaching Accreditation Scheme) qualified Tae Kwon Do instructor and has been involved in Mountain-Bike coaching in Canberra (having both MTBA and PMBIA coaching qualifications) since 2013.

While Eliza has a particular passion and expertise in assisting cyclists achieve their goals, she loves working with any individual wanting to move and feel as fit and healthy as possible. Both personal and professional experience has instilled a strong belief in healthy movement as the foundation for a life well-lived. And that there is nothing more satisfying than helping others find confidence in motion: to achieve their goals, whatever they might be.
